Anna Hazare detained ahead of his fast

16th August 2011:  Anna Hazare, Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi and scores of other anti-corruption movement leaders are arrested. Their crime - voicing their displeasure against a false bill which gives the Indian Politicians a right to scare away and intimidate whistle blowers! It is not a real democracy! False democracy thrives in India because political power is bought not really won in India.

AAC demands Indian Government immediately release Anna's team. We support Anna Hazare. - AAC Team

In total, this is coming upto Rs. 910,603,234,300,000, which is equal to USD 20.23 trillion. With this huge amount, India will become a super-power overnight and can permanently kill all social problems mainly poverty and unemployment.

United we stand, divided we fall

Why is the Nation of India (and Abroad) still divided on the lines of communal and secular, when the overwhelming monster of corruption is rotting away the foundations of Democracy and undermining its legitimacy.? Is it relevant to dig the unnecessary dirt on Baba Ramdev's supporters or Anna Hazare's supporters when the Nation is at a crisis point! United we stand, divided we fall... Please know the maths..

Congress campaign to counter Anna, Ramdev agitations

http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/congress-campaign-to-counter-anna-ramdev-agitations-111686
New Delhi:  In a counter-offensive, Congress will launch its campaign tomorrow to "expose communal forces" behind the agitations by civil rights activist Anna Hazare and yoga icon Baba Ramdev on issues of corruption and black money.

Senior leader Pranab Mukherjee will hold a media interaction in Kolkata, kick-starting the party's nationwide campaign in the wake of agitations by Ramdev and Hazare.

Comment
[Instead of trying to divide the nation in the name of secular and communal, Congress must start addressing the core issue 'Corruption'.  This counter-offensive suggests only one thing - that Congress party is never serious about bringing back the money'.  It is for some reason trying to discredit both Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare's campaign by labelling them as communal.  Congress party please wake-up!  The issue in front of the nation is not communal it is 'corruption'- AAC]

Digvijay Singh Kicked Assailant Sunil Kumar

Comment by AAC:
[A person has shown a 'Shoe' at press conference. But General Secretary of Congress Digvijay Singh and his thugs have assaulted that person. Shame on Congress party for calling themselves as 'Gandhians'. Gita says 'yadyadacarati sresthah' (3.1) what ever the leaders do the followers do the same! We condemn this violent culture. Congress Party - Please stay away from using Mahatma Gandhi's name... –AAC]

Gurgaon woman injured during Baba Ramdev crackdown 'very critical'

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Gurgaon-woman-injured-during-Ramdev-crackdown-very-critical/articleshow/8814238.cms

NEW DELHI: The condition of 51-year-old Raj Bala, the woman who suffered spinal injuries during police action against fasting yoga guru Baba Ramdev, is "very critical".

Raj Bala was one of the devotees of Ramdev who was fasting with the yoga guru at the Ramlila grounds when the Delhi police swooped down onBaba Ramdev on the night of June 5 and detained him after firing tear gas shells and resorting to lathicharge on his supporters to end his indefinite hunger strike on black money issue.

Thousands of protesters gathered at Ramlila ground were caught off guard by the police action.
http://www.thesundayindian.com/en/story/dictatorship-of-the-sycophants/16135/

Finally, I just want to say that we live in a country that is proud – and often criticized – to have inherited its Constitution, laws and democratic framework from the British; yet, it’s astonishing that one of the greatest virtues of the British democracy is missing! You enter London’s Hyde Park and the Parliament area and you see all kinds of protesters sitting all around doing all kinds of demonstrations! In New Delhi today, if one wants to protest, he is being denied a place! This is unbelievable! In the land of Gandhi, people who want to protest peacefully are being thrashed mercilessly and made ‘tadipaars’! This is not the democracy that Gandhi dreamt of. In simple words, it is the shameful and unapologetic dictatorship of the sycophants. And it must end. - ARINDAM CHAUDHURI

Baba Ramdev in hospital, fast continues

Dehradun:  Baba Ramdev, hospitalised yesterday after his health deteriorated, is continuing his hunger-strike. Today is the eighth day of his fast.

From: The Avaaz Team

Dear friends across India,

Last week the government threatened to remove the Prime Minister completely from Jan Lokpal jurisdiction, and talks broke down. But then we sent 30,000 messages in 4 days, and they agreed to his conditional inclusion! Now we have to make sure MPs, Judges, Civil Servants, CBI and CVC are all under the bill.

We have just six days left . Let's flood them with messages and make sure our public demands for an effective anti corruption law dominate next weeks meeting. Click to send an urgent message directly to the inboxes of Kapil, Pranab, Chidambaram, Moily, Khurshid, PM and Sonia Gandhi:http://www.avaaz.org/en/save_jan_lokpal_1/97.php?cl_tta_sign=c758cbbec4769509268d759e052a1835

The war of words between veteran social activist Anna Hazare and the Congress gets uglier by the day.
On Friday the anti corruption crusader, who was in Pune after his token fast in New Delhi two days, slammed Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh.
"There is a mental hospital in Yerawada in Pune, he should be admitted there," said Hazare on Singh.

Hindu Americans continue fight against corruption in India (updated)

http://blog.chron.com/believeitornot/2011/06/hindu-americans-continue-fight-against-corruption-in-india/

UPDATE: Less than a week after Hindu yoga guru Swami Baba Ramdev began a fast against corruption and was violently removed from New Delhi, Hindus in Houston say it’s time for Ramdev to end his fast. He was placed in intensive care today due to his physical condition from not eating.  Locals joined Indian Americans from 15 other American cities to send a statement to Ramdev’s offices. It reads in part:

Swami Ji, Indians and Indian Americans have been touched by your sacrifice. Millions have answered your call and joined you in fasting against corruption in India. The response of Indian government has been barbaric but Indian people have been awakened and they need your leadership to take this fight to its rightful conclusion. Swami Ji, we need you, Indians need you, India needs you to end this menace of corruption that is destroying millions of lives and taking away future of a whole generation of Indians. From actions of the government we understand that its promises to enact laws and enforce them were not genuine. This fight will therefore be prolonged.
We beg you to conserve your energy so you can give us strength and guidance to fight peacefully and protest truthfully for an end to corruption.

A doctor checks the health of Baba Ramdev on the sixth day of his hunger strike in Haridwar.

“Ramdev was admitted to the ICU immediately after he was brought to the hospital where doctors have examined him,” Medical Superintendent of Himalayan Hospital, Jolly Grant, Dr. S.L. Jethani said.

Comment by AAC:
[Our prayers are with Sri Baba Ramdev ji.  We sincerely salute his determination. Babaji is fighting with a strong will to end the 'bhrastachar' (corruption) in India.  We urge Governement of India to immediately start taking notice of this and start co-operating with Baba.  -AAC]

[So what!! Home Minister of India must stop vilifying RSS! As a home minister he must uphold law. If RSS was a banned organization then his statements make sense. But he spoke as if RSS people do not pay taxes in India, as if RSS are criminals! They are citizens of India and it is their billions of rupees tax money which people in the highest positions of the government steal away to fund their own TVs and empires!!!- AAC]

Logjam grows, states against overarching lokpal ambit - Hindustan Times

Not just Central ministers, even some state chief ministers are averse to having a lokpal to investigate all cases of corruption as being demanded by civil society. Two chief ministers - Sheila Dikshit of Delhi and Ibobi Singh of Manipur - have out-rightly rejected the idea of an overarching lokpal.

Comment by AAC:
[This is alarming news. This fear is already expressed by Anna Hazare's team. AAC strongly urges the government to offer their unconditional support to bring a strong Janlokpal Bill - AAC]
